Chihuahuan Desert Mural
Self-Initiated mural proposal for Children’s Museum
A 50’ x 4’ mural illustrating the Chihuahuan Desert and its range of animal life. The design moves from morning to night, reflecting the desert’s shifting light. Key elements are created as modular assets that can be repurposed for billboards, merchandise, and other collateral.

The proposal required the picking of one zone to create a piece for. This zone, targeted for 4 to 7 year-olds, allows visitors to explore animal movements, habitats and health through artistic role play. There are stages, fort building, caverns and a veterinary clinic to explore and bring to life through stories. The concept requires a surface treatment to a winding wall that evokes local animals and habitats.

Proposed Illustration and Mockup
I designed the illustration specifically for the space. Since visitors enter this area of the museum from right to left, the mural begins with a morning scene on the right and transitions into evening as you move left. It features a range of flora and fauna found in the Chihuahuan Desert.
Additional Product
The entire piece was rendered in Adobe Illustrator making it a vector graphic. This gave flexibility to be used on other items such as gift store merchandise.
